Tropical islands crawling with skeletons, an ocean awash with creatures, and other crews looking for loot seed a sandbox experience best played cooperatively with friends or cheerful acquaintances encountered on the high seas. Thankfully, its quests and voyages are straightforward to pick up from handsomely dressed merchants and guild members in the game’s ever-growing open world. Look at how Carrack works, for example.Champion among open-world sailing games is Sea of Thieves, which hardly troubles to explain its rules or objectives before dropping you in the command of a sloop, brigantine or galleon. TL DR: Makeing the Galleon into a proper tank would require changeing it's layout to boost it's broadside. Why is that necessary? It can be a tank which wins straight fights through its superior resilience, then chases down enemy ships for the kill with its existing anti-escape tools.A slow tank in this game needs a large broadside that stays above water for a long time when the ship takes waterBut if your ship's designated role is 'tank', that means you'll naturally be spending more time above the waterlevel than other ships anyway. The Galleon is a good chaser on paper but has some drawbacks that need to be adressed (sink rate guns on water and slightly to low speed). And the other two don't really need to be mentioned here on that topic. To conclude:Makeing the Galleon a good chaser would actually increase viarity of the large ship lineup since currently there is no really good large ship chaser. The Xebec has the speed but nothing that shoots forward. I can't remember a single time a Brig has caught up to a ship that was fleeing outside of 400m (barshot range) and the fleeing ship had in principle the superior speed (which as pointed out are most ships). Your post makes good points, but I still want to make a case for buffing Galleon's tankiness rather than its mobility.Blackwake lacks a 'tank' archetype in the large-class ships, one whose defining strength is its resilience. I remember so many fights with Galleon crashed into Galleon with or without grapple where people wandered from mast of one ship to the one of the other and stuff like that.Placing the furnace and special ammo crate more to the front has my full agreement and is part of my suggestions. The interesting thing about the current layout is that with an aware crew it can be easy to protect your pumpers (just block the way down).Overall I like the Galleon most to crew on since it feels the most polished. Not sure whether that one would be used much except by enemy boarders. Not sure where you want the new ladder but I assume it is in the front. Blackwake was truly driven by the community and we are proud of what we have achieved.Thank you all for the support you have given over the years! For now we see the game as complete.īalancing for crews that are still to fresh or uninterested to play along is recipe for creating ships that are to OP when they get a crew consisting mostly of players that are not like that.Placing supplies on lower deck kind of defeats the more interesting layout to play on you mentioned at the beginning of your text. Seeing people enjoy the game and the happiness it brought you was the main driving factor for us to push as far as we did. We are quite happy with what we achieved as a two man dev team, who hired some help along the way. Initially you didn’t even know who was on what ship until you selected it, leading to very frustrating moments trying to group with friends or balance team.A new win screen to show players outfits and their achievements through stats and leaderboards.A lot of new cosmetics for both factions were also added! We also had over 500+ bug fixes and quality of life changes over the course of early access. PARTY UP SYSTEMWe added the ability for friends to stay together for the following rounds, by setting an ingame tag.A new team selects a screen. The longer you played the cooler you could make your character look.Ingame stats for those wanting to achieve some interesting things.
